The Police Officer's Reading list is organized in two ways:

  •  By ranks common to most police agencies in the United States.
  •  By the variety of disciplines we find within those ranks - for example, while there are recommended readings for all detectives/investigators, there disciplines within the rank of detectives/investigators like homicide and narcotics.  Additionally, there are a number of disciplines within the police service that are staffed by civilian personnel, such as communications dispatch.  We would be remiss not to include our civilian comrades who make up nearly a third of our number!
