The purpose of the Association is to perpetuate the memory of United States Naval Vessels USS Holder and to promote fellowship among its many shipmates who served thereon. The first Holder (DE 401), a destroyer escort, was commissioned 27 November 1943 and served with distinction and honor at the end of World War II. On 11 April 1944 she was severely damaged, with loss of life due to enemy action, and was decommissioned 13 September 1944. The second Holder (DD/DDE 819) was commissioned a destroyer 18 May 19
