Learning Objectives

  • The student will understand basic radio wave theory including radio waves and frequencies.
  • The student will understand the difference between analog and digital communications and the basic parts of radio frequency communications.
  • The student will understand how digital communications are possible through a variety of schemes; including Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access(FDMA), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), and Cellular Digit Packet Data (CDPD).
  • The student will understand how the cellular telephone system works and its application to law enforcement.
